Building a Monument to First Responders

A Heartfelt Thanks to the Whole Community!

The City Lights Orchestra Performs!

Well, it was an absolutely beautiful night in Oak Lawn! Someone in the crowd told me that if anyone wasn’t having a good time, it was their own fault. We had wonderful weather, food, music, beverages and the company of friends. The rooftop was transformed. I’ll give more details during the week, but wanted to reserve today’s post to thank everyone for their support and to recognize a few of the volunteers and sponsors who made this event so special.

They made this a family project and enlisted spouses, children and friends to get the job done. I am so grateful for their passion for our Monument. They were the most care-free part of this event! They are wonderful!

While it was a Rotary function, we worked hand-in-hand with the Village of Oak Lawn every step of the way. I want to tell everyone what a pleasure it was working with such a professional team. I don’t think the average resident knows the talent we have in this town, but as problems came up solutions were at hand in minutes, if not seconds. The Public Works folks really went above and beyond and we are very appreciative. Steve, Chic and the entire team are as good as it gets. They are timely, professional, insightful and very very diligent. Chad is a walking encyclopedia of event planning and we appreciate him being “on standby” for questions that would come up. His insight made a big impact on how smoothly things went. Thanks so much to the many Village of Oak Lawn guys and gals who helped!

One of the most special moments of the night was the presentation by the Oak Lawn Honor Guard. I wanted to thank each of them in this public way for their time, attention and efforts to add a very special extra layer of magic to our event. Thanks and congratulations on a job well done:

  • Lt. Joseph Stubbs
  • Sgt. Robert Brewer
  • Sgt. James Pacetti
  • Officer Michael Acke

It was a small part of this big event, but one of the most memorable for me.  Trinity Lutheran Church put out a call for pies and boy did they step up!  Over fifty pies – most hand made – were donated .  Wow.  I wish all the members of the congregation could have heard the rave reviews from the crowd.  It was a creative and fun way to reach out to the community.  Thanks so much!

This was our Club’s first event of this type and we could not have done it without the assistance of Park LawnNancy and Jim knew what questions we needed to ask before we could even anticipate them and were right there with solutions, advice and encouragement.  Thanks so much for Park Lawn’s friendship and support.  Your expertise calmed the chaos and was so very much appreciated.  Thank you so much!

I’d like to thank each and everyone who supported the event – through attendance, donations of materials or service, help in promoting it or just talking it up with friends and family. I am very proud of what Oak Lawn can do when we all pull together! THANK YOU!
